Carey is a former fashion model. She's 5'10" tall and was very well-liked by high-end American designers such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and others. She is the daughter of an outstanding geologist who in 1979 was named Scientist of the year by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey traveled all over because of her father's work. The model began modeling for a part-time basis when she was a student attending college at University of Colorado and caught the attention of an agent for the Ford model Agency in New York. The year was 1980 when she emigrated to France and briefly lived in Paris and Bordeaux and then returned in New York in order to continue her modeling career. The model was featured on Vogue and Glamour covers. Between modeling gigs, she was a full time student, completing a master's degree of literature from New York University. Then she became interested in acting, and began training at the Neighborhood Playhouse of New York. She had a small part of Club Paradise with Robin Williams in 1986. When she is not working she likes to ski and windsurfing, climbing up rocks as well as whitewater rafting.
